Cartilage Problems

Cartilage is a tough, flexible tissue that is found throughout your body. It acts as as a shock absorber covering the surface of the joints, enabling your bones to slide over each other by reducing the friction and so preventing damage. Cartilage can also help shape parts of your body that have no support from bones, like your nose and your ears.

Cartilage does not have a blood supply. Blood cells are used to help repair tissue damage. This means that damaged cartilage will not heal as quickly as muscles or skin can.
